March 18, 2017 Wine and Olive Oil Tasting

Here is the wine and olive oil  menu:

Wine

Fruscio 2014, produced by Contea di Sylva Mala which is located part way on Mt. Vesuvio. Fruscio is a blend of the coda di volpe and falanghina grapes. It is the only white wine on the menu.

Per’ E Palummo 2014, produced by Agnanum which is located in the City of Naples. Per’ E Palummo is made with the piedirosso grape.

Prephylloxera 2009, produced by Terre Nere which is located in the Mt. Etna area of Sicily near Catania. It is comprised mostly of the nerello mascelese grape with a small amount of the nerello cappuccino grape.

Barone 2010,  produced by Regina Viarum which is located in Caserta, just north of Naples. It is made with the prmitivo grape; one of few wines outside of Puglia Region made with primitive grape.

Nero Ne 2007,  produced by Il Cancelliere which is located in Montemurano in the Irpinia wine area of Avellino; east of Napoli.

Marsiliano 2010,  produced by La Sibilla which is located in Bacoli, west of Naples. It is made with the marsigliese, olivella and piedirosso grapes.

Olive Oil

Casa di Baal, located outside of Salerno; frontonio, rhodonella and lecchino olives.

 Pietro Petrillo, located in Montemiletto in the Irpinia wine region; raceva olive.

Passannante Michele, located in Potenza, province next to Avellino, ogliarole del vulture, coratina and frontonia olives.

Taibi, located in Agrigento, Sicily; nocellara del belice olive.

Obelanum, located in Matera next to Potenza; majatica olive.

    I loved all the wines at the tasting but my favorite one was Marsiliano! Bob is extremely knowledgeable and passionate which makes it that much more enjoyable. Thanks Roseanne and Bob for a great night!
